Our parcel is located in the centerpiece of the Oppenheimer KREUZ and the soil here is characterized by powerful limestone benches. The Late Burgundy here comes from the classic French Pinot Noir clones (Burgundy clone 667), which we grafted onto the old vines. It was Kerner vines and the process of grafting red wine vines onto a white base was, to our knowledge, unique.
But the Spätburgunder from the Oppenheim KREUZ is not unique just because of that. Whether it's the base, the soil, the vineyard position or the French clones-despite the presence of its body, the deep dark shimmering wine possesses a freshness and finesse that expresses itself in completely independent flavours.
